If so, our client, an established education provider located in Dover, is currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to work on a temporary-ongoing basis. This role will be paying between £10.42 per hour.
As the Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting various aspects of basic food and housekeeping services. Your role will create a welcoming and comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities would include:
* Assisting with basic food preparation and serving meals for students and staff per established menus and dietary requirements.
* Setting up the school hall for lunch, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and ensuring they are kept clean and organized during mealtimes.
* Support kitchen staff in food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling food trays.
* Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in dining areas, by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising floors regularly. Empty rubbish bins, collect recyclables, and dispose of waste appropriately.
* Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.
* Provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, staff, and visitors, addressing inquiries and requests courteously.
* Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards, including proper handling of food, cleaning chemicals, and personal hygiene practices.
* Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students, staff, and visitors.
Person Specification:
* Must have a valid Enhanced DBS
* Previous experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
* Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and sanitation practices.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members.
* Physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry objects for extended periods.
