Main Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Be responsible for:

Front of House Duties
Under the direction of the Business Manager (Catering & Retail) and/or the Catering & Retail Operations Assistant assist in the day-to-day running of the business.
Ensure both internal & external customers receive the best possible customer service at all times.
On occasion be responsible for the transportation of goods to the relevant storerooms and catering outlets on the college site.
Preparation and operation of any of the catering/retail outlets you are assigned too and to ensure they are ready and open for the relevant service times.
Preparation and operation of all service areas, to ensure they are ready and open for the relevant service times.
Setting up, operating & cleaning of Espresso machines as per the training you have received.
Preparation, operation & closing down of servery counters
Setting up, operation and cashing up of EPOS terminals.
Maintenance and cleaning of all catering equipment, such as vending machines, coffee machines, etc.
Prepare, deliver, set up, collect and clear any Hospitality requests which are on the Hospitality calendar. 
Ensure minimum wastage within the department, using methods such as stock rotation.
In liaison with the Catering & Retail Operations Assistant carry out a manual monthly stocktake of all goods within the front of House storerooms, vending machines and catering outlets using the college's stock system.
Have an active role in the Catering & Retail front of house processes to help the Business Manager (Catering & Retail) improve the operating systems.

Kitchen Duties
Under the direction of the Head Chef,  assist with packaging and labelling foods for sale in the various catering outlets.
In liaison with the kitchen team, ensure the Restaurant is set up for lunch service, if rota’d to do so.
When working the Restaurant Hot counter, ensure you attend the Allergen briefing before each service. 

Health and Safety
To ensure the College’s Health and Safety Policies and operating procedures are followed closely at all times.
To understand and have a working knowledge of all current Health and Safety legislation, Food Hygiene legislation and to be conversant with the rules contained therein.
To participate in HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) procedures according to the College’s Food Safety Management document.
To meet quality control measures and hygiene standards at all times.

Other
Report any maintenance issues you have to a senior member of the team.
Undertake any training the role requires.
Report all accidents/sickness following the College’s procedures.
Undertaking any other task that may be reasonably expected within the scope of this role as directed by your line manager.

Hours of work:    To work 5 out of 7 days on a rota basis, between the hours of 7am-10pm to meet the needs of the business. There is a need to be flexible with this role, as there may be occasions where business needs will require you to work outside of the usual college opening days, hours and term times
