General Manager – Fresh Produce

Salary : £50000 – £70000/annum
Redfox has been commissioned by a major fruit importation business created by a number of leading international growers. Their model services the UK & European retailers through various distribution channels for a successful direct trading relationship. As part of their business planning, they have invested successfully into significant stone fruit growing operations in the UK majoring on the South-East.
As part of their positive growth plans, they are looking for a key individual to “partner” their UK based MD to take overall control of those growing operations to assist in their continuing double digit growth in the UK and Europe.
The key purpose of the General Manager role is to “lead” the ongoing direction of the UK growing units be that that the actual growing or/and the relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the business. As such, you will be equally good physically growing as well as managing the farms successfully!
Key Elements of the role:
* Overall management of the farm, business relationships and staff.
* Directing the team to action; worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, efficient fertilizer use, chemical application, harvesting, and record-keeping.
* Researches new growing techniques, varieties and associated services to the farms to propose new developments.
* Majoring on efficiently managing the administration record information, such as production, farm management practices for reporting and analysis to determine changes in for greater efficiency and accuracy.
* Purchase machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, trees, fertilizer, and chemicals
* Managing the team on the growing units. Running of recruitment of full time and seasonal staff, appraisals and training and development ongoing
* Managing the key relationships with the banks & finance/accountants with budgets, cash flow, working capital requirements
* Relationship / understanding with the parent businesses to develop with farm with quality and profitability at the forefront.
* Commercially capitalises on other opportunities for the farm units.

* Can work independently and has ability to manage and prioritise different work and skill demands.
* Tenacious and resilient with high energy levels.
* Ability to work with all MS Office products
