Fish Farm Assistant Manager | Blairgowrie | 40 hours per week | £30,000-£35,000 depending on experience

Our client is a family run business that is now over 50 years old, which makes it one of the oldest trout farming companies in both Scotland and the UK. They farm primarily Rainbow Trout, but also Brown, Blue and Tigers for the re-stocking/angling market. The company prides itself on the quality of its fish alongside the service they provide to customers.

You will play a crucial part in the success of the business. Reporting to and working closely with the Farm Manager, you will help ensure that the very best management of the trout is undertaken. 

You will work with the Farm Manager and the rest of the team to continuously improve the quality of the fish, and the efficiency of the farm and further enhance the team’s high performance.  

Please note, you will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.  As part of a staff rota, you will be required to work a number of weekends and nights per year and any additional shifts will be paid as overtime.

Are you the right person for the job?

First and foremost, you must have a general level of understanding of what constitutes fish production and welfare and be prepared to work outdoors in all conditions
Fish husbandry experience is beneficial but not essential
You must be motivated and dedicated to delivering excellence
You will have organisational and leadership skills to support the Farm Manager in running a highly motivated team
What will your role look like?

Supporting the Farm Manager you will be:

Responsible for all aspects of farm operations  
Managing and planning the fish production cycle  
Ensuring the safety and welfare of the staff  
Lead and manage a highly motivated team  
Feeding and inspecting the fish to ensure the very best fish welfare  
Maintaining the highest standards in fish husbandry  
Liaising with customers and suppliers and building excellent, trusted relationships
