The Job Role Details:
The opportunity has arisen to fulfil the role of Farm Manager on a Horticultural / PYO Farm situated five miles from Wrexham and nine miles from Chester.
As the successful Farm Manager, you will have the opportunity to put your mark on, and drive forward a farm that has been in the same family for the last 140 years.
This role will involve leading a team and running our successful seasonal PYO.
Key Responsibilities:
You will…
Sow, plant and harvest crops within given guide lines and time scales.
Plan seasonal cropping programmes in line with commercial requirements.
Take a hands-on approach to both growing and managing all aspects of crop production.
Be prepared to lead by example.
Be responsible for the day to day running and maintaining of the farm and machinery.
Be able to harvest crops both mechanically and by hand.
Ensure that all relevant environmental, health & safety practices are implemented and complied with at all times.Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…
Proven experience of growing produce, preferably strawberries, using irrigation systems.
Experience of growing crops for a Farm Shop and PYO preferable.
Hold PA1 / PA6 spraying certificates or be prepared to acquire these qualifications whilst in post.
