About the role
Working as part of the senior management team, you'll be safely leading the farming team to achieve targets and budget, while maximising quality and yield. Creating growing programmes, approving seed density plans and executing the seed harvesting and storage regime will be a big part of what you'll be doing too, whilst promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate
You'll have experience of leading teams in a farming environment and be excited about the prospect of leading an established team for an award-winning business. BASIS/FACTS would be advantageous, as would experience with potatoes. You'll be adept at making decisions in a pressurised environment and an ambassador for Health & Safety and sustainability.
About the business
Operating from a number of sites across the beautiful island of Jersey for over 20 years, the business grows packs and supplies to a wide number of retailers in the UK. Farming around 1,400 ha annually across 1400 fields, and employing around 300 staff, they produce and pack and export approximately 12,000 tonnes of potatoes per year. Careful management of the environment is an issue of great importance to them, leading to a wide range of environmental initiatives being adopted as an integral part of their farming operations.
