As Engineering Manager in South Wales, you will manage all aspects of work within your prescribed area of control, whilst maintaining a constant focus on health and safety and employee welfare. You will promote the company’s open democratic culture, whilst effectively meeting the demands of the customer through focusing on quality, service delivery, cost and efficient process control.
Key responsibilities
* Drive a ‘continuous improvement’ culture throughout the business.
* Initiate and support key projects utilising both internal expertise and approved contractors relating to process improvements, waste & material variance reductions, labour efficiency and productivity increases.
* Continually review equipment specification to ensure these are ‘best fit’ and make recommendations for change where appropriate.
* Ability to thrive in a pressured environment, with limited direction and broad responsibilities.
* Identify route cause(s) of engineering downtime and introduce effective measures to eliminate/reduce.
* Promote quality to your team as a key performance measure and ensure quality standards are at best maintained and improved where scope exists.
* Conduct regular appraisals for direct reports and ensure this process is effectively cascaded through the engineering team.
* Take responsibility for the delivery and budgetary control of capital spend on site.
* Promote safe working practices and take the appropriate prompt action relating to accidents and near miss incidents
* Identify opportunities for improvement/innovation and to develop and implement action plans in conjunction with your Line Manager to maximise potential benefits of such opportunities for the business.
* Support GMP adherence in arrears where your team are deployed
Ideal Profile
As Engineering Manager you will be a team player, tenacious and be an analytical problem solver with exceptional communication/negotiation skills.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree, have a management qualification at graduate level or above with at least 2 years of work experience. A dual skill set of Electrical/Mechanical is essential
