Overview:

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit an Engineering Manager to be based at their site near Knottingley in West Yorkshire.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the Engineering function across four quarry sites and three engineering workshops, the health and safety of staff, contractors and visitors to site, minimising the effect of the engineering function on the environment, and planning engineering projects through to completion in line with the annual budget.

Duties and Responsibilities [extract]:

Manage the Engineering functions of the Quarries Business associated with (but not restricted to) all Fixed Plant and Quarry Installations.
Manage engineering staff and contractors, fixed plant upgrade works, preventative and planned maintenance/repair of all fixed plant including electrical installations, fabrication and welding works, workshops and storekeeping and engineering staff recruitment/training.
Operate the Engineering Department in accordance with the Health and Safety document.
Ensure management control and supervision of all engineering activities on site.
Ensure that daily/weekly/monthly inspections are completed, and defects reported.
Liaise with Operations Manager and the Health and Safety Representative on Health and Safety issues at the workplace.
Work in accordance with Environmental Management System and promote environmentally considerate work practices.
Ensure that employee timesheets are recorded accurately and processed in a timely manner.
Provide leadership and technical expertise on maintenance related matters.
Oversee the Engineering Department to achieve key performance indicators; communicate with and coordinate planning and resources with Quarry Managers.
Align maintenance plans to achieve key performance indicators and/or market demand.
Plan major maintenance projects and develop capital investment recommendations for the plant.
Responsible for development, oversight, and effective management of department budgets.
Analyse overall performance of the maintenance operation and communicate results with Operations Manager to drive continuous improvement. Ensure optimisation and execution of all maintenance resources.
Optimise overall equipment effectiveness at the lowest sustainable cost of maintenance.
Perform statistical analysis, prepare reports, and maintain appropriate department records and files as required.
Providing the Operations Manager with information and statistics on the department's performance.
Maintain up-to-date records and dealing with a range of paperwork.

Skills and Experience [extract]:

Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical, Process, and Electrical Engineering
Technical Knowledge/experienced on fixed and mobile crushing and screening plants.
Preferred Qualified Electrician or extensive Electrical knowledge
Technical Knowledge/experienced on fixed and mobile crushing and screening plants.
Strong leadership skills involving a multi-disciplined team.
Good people development skills and leadership qualities; able to coach and inspire staff to broaden their outlook and raise their expectations.
Ability to work collaboratively at all levels in a capacity of adding value to the decision-making process.
Ability to re-evaluate priorities, responding quickly and positively to change is imperative.
Performance driven with the ability to deliver added value and assist in the improvement of operational performance.
Sufficiently resilient and robust to effectively manage third parties.
