Electrical Lecturer/ work based trainer
Reports to: Senior Management Team
Main Purpose: To carry out high quality teaching in apprentices and work based assessments of learners enrolled on MIT`s training programmes in the electrical sector. To develop programmes to the standards required by EAL,City & Guilds and other awarding bodies.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop curricular and associated teaching schemes and materials and regularly review and update these by monitoring changes in the requirements for qualifications to ensure that MIT Training courses remain up to date and relevant.
2. Ensure MIT courses are delivered to the required standards to enable learners to achieve their qualifications in agreed timescales and meet the requirements of the Awarding Bodies.
3. Deliver for learners: initial assessment and target setting; induction; effective learning which meet the requirements of the course syllabus, using materials approved by MIT and; prepare and administer tests and other assessment materials relevant to specific courses and curriculum and to provide feedback to learners.
4. Assist with the recruitment of learners to achieve target enrolment levels, including the provision of high quality advice, guidance and induction and participation in marketing activities as may be reasonably requested.
5. In conjunction with Training Coordinators/Recruiters ensure all learners have an agreed training programme and understand the activities to be completed at each stage to complete their learning ( end point assessment)
6. Act as personal tutor to learners and provide guidance and counselling as appropriate, including liaising with employers as necessary regarding learners’ attendance and progress.
7. Visit learners at their employers’ premises when necessary to carry out employment engagement duties within the criteria laid by the awarding bodies to facilitate completion of learners program.
8. Ensure that all preparation, marking, assessment and moderation is completed promptly and efficiently within agreed timescales
9. Carry out administrative duties promptly and efficiently in relation to enrolments, class records and reporting of absences, maintaining learner records and reports, applying for certification and any other administrative activities required from time to time.
10. Participate in the monitoring, review and evaluation of courses and carry out internal verification/audit as appropriate.
11. Attend training courses as required to maintain continuous professional development standard and maintain records.
12. Ensure all activities carried out conform to MIT`s Ltd values, policies, procedures and agreements, in particular policies on the provision of equal opportunities and health & safety.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
– Experienced lecturer with Certificate in FE Teaching, PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent level three teaching qualification.
– Background in the electrical industry, qualified at least to level three in the relevant work area .
– Detailed knowledge of the qualifications awarded in the Engineering.
– VCQ assssor TAQA awards (achieved or prepared to work towards)
– Enthusiastic and well-motivated, flexible person.
– A self-starter with strong organisational skills
– Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
– Demonstrable ability to lead and motivate learners and staff.
– Commitment to customer care and equal opportunities and continuous quality improvement.
– Good administration skills and attention to detail. Computer literate.
– Able to communicate at senior levels with private and public organisations
