Development Engineer – Diesel Engines – Peterborough (Hybrid) – Up to £48/hr – Inside IR35

Do you have diesel engine development experience, and are you seeking a new hybrid working contract in Peterborough? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines find a full-time Development Engineer, and the role comes with a contract rate of £48.00 per hour.

As a Development Engineer, you will collaborate with a global team of engineers, suppliers and production facilities, shaping solutions from concept to production that achieve world-class levels of quality and reliability. You will also plan and deliver air and fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.

In your first few weeks in this Development Engineer role, you can expect to:

Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional business support for new designs, supplier nomination and capital investment.
Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities.
Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management.
Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
To apply for this Development Engineer role, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline or equivalent knowledge/experience. In addition, you should have a good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine systems and component development. Problem solving skills such as 8D methodology or similar (Technical, Issue, Resolution), FMEA, and be able to define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
