An exciting opportunity has arisen within a leading housing association for a Communications Officer to join them on a fixed term contract.

To provide a responsive, efficient, high quality and professional internal and external communications services for the business with a focus on enhancing and protecting the organisations reputation. Using existing and emerging channels to deliver and effectively target the councils communications and engagement activities to ensure optimum visibility and impact.

Responsibilities:

* Writing for publications, new releases, marketing materials, social media, websites etc. to agreed standards
* Creating, editing and publishing engaging video content and developing the council's use of video and social media
* Responding appropriately to media enquiries, prepare media releases and arrange interview opportunities
* Identify positive activity in the council and the best way to share it with residents and stakeholders using all available tools
* Providing the full range of communications advice, training and support to the services
* Attending internal and external meetings, forums, press briefings etc. providing communications support to the work of the council
* Providing professional advice to members and officers on working on the media and effective targeting of the wide range of audiences for the councils work
* Ensuring effective and consistent use of the councils corporate identity and place branding
* Ensuring relationships with members, senior managers and peers are the most effective for achieving business requirements

Skills & Abilities:

* Meticulous written communication skills including the ability to draft lively and accurate copy
* Fast, accurate, keyboard skills
* Ability to create and edit videos
* Project organisation and delivery skills
* Ability to prioritise
* Ability to work
* Strong news sense and sound knowledge of needs of different print, broadcast and social media
* Appreciation of branding and corporate identity
* Significant experience in a similar role
* Working experience of copy writing and proof reading
* Working experience of video editing
* Communications experience of working on internal and external communications issues in a complex environment
