At Remedicare we are recruiting for Relief Chef in residential/nursing setting based in mainly Cardiff/Newport, expected to travel to other locations as needed.

We are looking for skilled and passionate Chef’s to support our team and ensure the efficient and effective running of the kitchen. Chef – Duties and Responsibilities?

Under the guidance of a Head Chef on duty, you will be a part of a dedicated team. Preparing and cooking high quality meals, assisting the Head Chef and Home Manager in menu planning. The Chef must ensure Residents with special dietary needs receive attractive, appropriate and varied meals.

Menu planning.

Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment.

Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.

Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards.

Follow recipes and presentation specifications.

Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Restock items as needed throughout the shift.

Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards.

Recording food temperatures.

What we need from you:

A passion for great food and customer service skills – we need someone who loves good grub and will go above and beyond to provide excellent service and food to our tenants. In the absence of the Chef Manager, you will also lead the team to ensure consistently high standards of service and undertake general kitchen management duties, so not two days will be the same.

Communication skills – as you'll be a member of the kitchen team, you'll be working with many people, from the Chef and assistant chef to the service managers and our tenants. So, you'll have to be approachable and friendly and enjoy a good chat!

Working knowledge of Food preparation/catering-You'll need to have a Basic Food Hygiene certificate (minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Food preparation/Catering) and knowledge of basic dietary and nutritional requirements. If you have a first aid certificate, let us know! If not, don't worry as we'll provide training and support you through it. you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals along with supporting the team to set up the dining room and with all aspects of meal preparations and the daily close of the kitchen.

Able to travel from site to site – this role will cover in and around Cardiff, Newport, Ebbw Vale and Bridgend, and maybe some additional sites in mid/North Wales.

Strong communication skills

Ability to work as part of a team and individually

Flexibility and be able to adapt to the needs of Residents

Experience in a similar environment.

·Actively help maintain compliance with current Dietary, Food Safety and EHO Standards.

·Passionate about cooking.
