Responsibilities of the Buyer role.
* Actively enhance profitability for the company via smart buying and procurement practices
* Grow relationships with third-party stakeholders
* Conduct in-depth research and analysis of both national and international markets, delving into competitor pricing strategies to enable a more cost-effective approach to buying strategies
* Engage in negotiations to establish weekly and seasonal pricing agreements with growers and suppliers, ensuring sustained profitability, targeted margin achievement, and favourable returns to suppliers
* Evaluate weekly programs to pinpoint opportunities for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness
* Undertake international travel to maintain relationships with existing suppliers and cultivate new partnerships, fostering mutual business growth
* Contribute to and support the management of product stock throughout the organization.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement operational efficiencies that benefit the overall business
* Participate in the development of the annual budget
Specifications required for the role of Buyer
* Proficiency in numerical skills and adept use of Microsoft Office programs is a requirement for this role
* Experience in demonstrating commercial awareness in the context of the fresh produce industry
* Strong organisational abilities coupled with effective multitasking skills to a deadline
* Ability to confidently communicate company requirements to suppliers
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
