Hours: 8:15am – 4:30pm

Our Client is a very well established and independent industry leader of printed folded cartons. They are now looking to expand their team by employing a CAD Operator.

The main objectives of the roles is to produce carton samples, multi-up layouts and order cutting forme components from briefs supplied. To provide technical support to Production and both Internal and External Sales Teams as required with possible customer visits.

Responsibilities:

On receipt of customer brief, operate Cadcam equipment to produce required profiles
As required design an appropriate carton, taking account of weight / size of contents, customer packing lines, material components and production capabilities
Supply samples, drawings and electronic files for customer approval
Visit customers as required to advise on carton styles and possible solutions to their packing line requirements
Liaise with production staff to ensure smooth running of carton profiles and optimum layout
Advise Sales staff on any design / layout enhancements which could improve manufacturing process
Calculate the most cost efficient layout and advise Sales staff for quotation purposes
Obtain quotes and order all relevant new tooling, including acubraille forces, and advise Sales for pricing purposes
Maintain a thorough understanding of Cadcam programme and be able to reset parameters to suit packaging requirements
Produce Cyrel drawings for Gerber
Add relevant codes to all new work tickets and enter onto Avante system for repeat work
Create file with 'varnish free' areas to enable Tech Services to manufacture coating plates
Provide electronic files to studio for artwork, prepress for stepping up printing plates
Carry out project work as agreed with Pre-Press Manager
Maintain a high standard of health and safety procedures within work area and take immediate corrective action in the event of any safety non-conformance
From customer supplied brief / product sample design carton profiles and produce samples as required
Create drawings showing varnish / glue free areas
Supply the Prepress department with one up and stepped layout files
Order cutting forms and components (dies, strippers, counters, braille) from external suppliers
Upload files and order flexo (varnish) plates from external supplier
Record activities accurately on departmental trackers
Ensure good working relationships with all internal and external staff / customers you come into contact with
During busy periods support other areas within the department
Ensure adherence at all times to the Company's Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures and maintain compliance to appropriate standards
Carry out work safely in the interests of other employees and themselves, in compliance with current legislation and Company Environmental, Health & Safety procedures to including general housekeeping
Any other tasks associated with this role, which are suited to the individual's abilities and level of training as directed by the Line Manager
