Job Description

My client is a fast paced, established and successful graphic design, print and installation studio offering a vast range of services and solutions personalised to suit the varied needs of their clients. They have steadily grown over almost 40 years to become a well oiled team of designers, managers and technicians that supply some of the biggest names in retail – every day is a fresh challenge to be tackled.

They have an exciting opportunity for a Studio Assistant/Trainee estimator to join their team – you will learn about the huge variety of processes, materials and techniques alongside being trained by their estimating team to prepare quotes, source materials and liaise with customers to give them the best service possible

A good eye for detail and a head for numbers is a must, an interest in print production and an understanding of print processes would be an advantage but full training will be given – please be aware this isn’t a foot in the door to a designer job but you will work closely with the design and artwork teams – this is a role where you will learn everything about print production and estimating to become a key part of the estimating team

Studio Assistant side of the role will involve:

– Liaising between Studio and Production teams to make sure any changes/updates/information are communicated

– being able to work well under pressure and spin many plates

– being confident in speaking to different departments and interpreting/communicating information clearly

– the ability to manage time well and maintain organised structure/documents

– establishing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers

– a good eye for detail, a critical and inquisitive mind

– being enthusiastic and driven 

– being highly Organised, friendly, have great initiative

Trainee Estimator side of the role will involve:

– Working closely with Estimating team to learn the MIS system (Clarity) and prepare accurate quotes

– Researching cost of items such as materials, transport, labour, alternative processes

– Liaising with suppliers to get best costs and also keep up to date with new and alternative materials

– The ability to adapt to changes during the working day

– Maintaining accurate administration and updating of system

– Excellent analytical skills and good mathematical brain
