Production Editor (3 days pw)

We are recruiting for an experienced Production Editor for our client based near Newark.
This role can be based in the office or working from home, if working from home ideally you will still live within commutable distance as there will be time when you need to go into the office.
You will be working on the company's in-house monthly magazine, which is the oldest continuously published technical journal in the world. The 48-page monthly focuses on peer-reviewed articles on historical and contemporary making, servicing, repair, restoration, and conservation. Their own archives are an increasingly valuable source for collectors and enthusiasts, and related demand for the distance-learning courses they also offer.
We are looking for excellent technical skills, sound judgement, a collaborative approach, previous magazine production experience and a sense of humour.
The role involves working closely with our in-house designer, as well as editor at large and the Journal’s in-house editorial director. The production editor position is a 3-day per week role with flexible working options.
THE ROLE includes
• Creating a monthly production schedule and flat planning
• Managing invoices
• Managing and commissioning journalists and writers, in liaison with the editorial director
• Managing copy flow and editing features
• Sub-editing copy and layouts
• Regular liaison with magazine designer and digital editor
• Liaising with editorial board
• Liaising with the magazine’s editor-at-large
• Managing print and publication schedules
• Responding to up- or down-paging requests if required
• Ad-sales liaison
• A knowledge of Adobe InDesign is desirable but not essential
