Job Title: Mechanical Design Manager

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: up to £65k dependant on experience

As a Mechanical Design Manager with our client, you'll lead a team of engineers in the design and development of mechanical systems and components for innovative projects in the incinerator and waste-to-energy sector. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of projects from concept to production, driving excellence in design and fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of designers and mechanical engineers, providing guidance and support throughout the design process.
Develop and implement design standards, processes, and best practices to ensure efficient and high-quality designs.
Oversee the creation and review of 3D models, drawings, and specifications using SolidWorks, in line with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, procurement, and operations, to resolve design-related issues and ensure project success.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate design concepts and proposed solutions.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and design tools.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards throughout the design and development process.
Key Skills/Attributes & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering design, with a good part in a leadership capacity.
Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, simulation, and drafting.
Sound knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated involvement in projects encompassing incinerator design, construction, and commissioning.
Familiarity with waste incineration regulations and principles.
Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to delivering designs meeting stringent specifications.
