Event Engineering are a Loughborough based live events, exhibitions and conference company working for global brands on bespoke custom-build projects.
We are seeking a design developer to join our growing Design and Build Team to lead bespoke build projects. The successful candidate will thrive on managing the whole design development process. They will consider materials, manufacturing techniques, costings and timescales to take projects from their initial concepts through to successful delivery.
The Role
Participating in briefings to help scope and guide projects
Producing project design drawings for internal/client sign-off
Provide constructive input to colleagues regarding design, construction and finish options to ensure projects can be delivered on time to the required standard, factoring in both budget and available resources
Developing designs into detailed specifications and creating supporting materials for use by the build team, including working drawings, cutting lists and machining data,
Adjusting and adapting designs as briefs and requirements change
Specify, quantify and order materials
Commission external suppliers as needed e.g. metal working
Create site documentation e.g. site layouts, instruction manuals or assembly drawings

We’re looking for someone with
Proficiency in AutoCAD
The ability to tailor a design for manufacture
Experience/knowledge of Joinery manufacture and finishing techniques, as well as broad experience with other materials e.g. metal, acrylic and print
Experience in leading large projects from brief to delivery
Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
Experience in specifying, quantifying and ordering required materials and supplies, ensuring smooth workflow for the build team
Previous experience of producing 3D visuals or a desire to learn
Experience working in design software packages such as Inventor, Solidworks or SketchUp would be beneficial
Relevant experience in exhibitions, temporary installations or POS would be advantageous
The core hours of the role are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday, however, given the nature of the events industry flexibility to work outside of these hours will sometimes be required. This role is based at our Loughborough premises
