We are working with a prominent sign-making company established in Manchester, recognized for their expertise in producing high-quality signage across various sectors, including hospitality, travel & transportation, retail, leisure, and international events.

As a CAD Technician, your primary responsibility is the production of 3D and 2D drawings, along with obtaining structural and electrical engineers' calculations and drawings. You'll play a crucial role in the fabrication and manufacturing stages of all projects, collaborating closely with the management team and other departments to ensure projects stay on schedule.

We are seeking an individual with a background in 2D and 3D CAD Design, preferably within the Construction and Signage Industry, coupled with previous experience in a similar role. Your hands-on approach, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential qualities for success in this position.

As a CAD Technician, building strong relationships is key. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, external consulting engineers, and client contacts to ensure all requirements are met, aligning with client expectations. Working within the Design team, supported by the Design Manager, you'll ensure jobs are designed efficiently with practical application in mind.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Stage Duties:

Attend Site Surveys with the Project Team for information gathering.

Produce concept designs for review and approval.

Create detailed 3D Drawings for review by Project Managers and Clients.

Provide 2D Drawings for Structural Assessment, obtaining calculations approval from client-appointed design teams.

Develop fabrication drawings of structures within defined timescales.

Maintain Accurate Records:

Keep up-to-date records of all design information.

Manage design team documentation and ensure drawings are current.

Manage document revisions, ensuring files on central drives are the most up-to-date versions.

Build and Maintain Relationships:

Establish relationships with new potential suppliers for best value.

Maintain good working relationships with existing suppliers, challenging costs and ensuring quality.

Ideal Candidate:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Solidworks experience and good IT knowledge (including Adobe Creative Suite/Microsoft Office/Google products).

Previous experience using Solidworks.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Strong people skills and a customer service ethic.

Flexibility, problem-solving skills, and strong organizational abilities.

Excellent punctuality and multitasking skills.

Ability to make decisions under pressure and handle complaints.

A clean and full driving license is advantageous
