A fantastic opportunity has arisen in a dynamic industry leading POS/POP manufacturing company for a client-facing mid-weight Development Designer, working with some of the world’s biggest brands predominantly in the health and beauty industry.
The ideal candidate:
* Highly motivated, can work as an individual or as part of our amazing design team.
* Ability to take clients’ concepts and turn them into reality.
* Appreciation of brand identity, inherently taken from your attention to detail.
* Confident in articulating your ideas to the team, suppliers and clients alike.
* A developing knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, fabrication, print, electrical specifications and assembly.
* Able to value engineer designs for the simplest, most cost-efficient method of manufacture.
* Keen interest in materials, methods of manufacture and construction, inquisitive about emerging technologies and materials – particularly within the sustainability space.
* Able to advise on the most cost-effective methods for each project based on size, scope, volume and lead time.
* Able to work on multiple projects at once with an organised and methodical approach, identifying and actioning priorities quickly.

* Ability to interpret client feedback and apply your technical skill to produce iterative solutions on-the-fly.
* Confidence in negotiating and guiding the client in realising their initial vision within the practical constraints of the project.
* Confident with industry standard technical software packages – SolidWorks Experience. Knowledge of the Adobe Suite and ability to render is preferred but not essential.

* Background in retail environments is preferred but not essential.
* Strong team player who is keen to learn, open to mentoring and personal development.
* 3+ year industry experience.
Reporting into the Development Design Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Taking briefs from Account Handlers and/or Project Managers, interpreting the key requirements of the brief, and devising a robust approach to engineering and rationalisation into technical solutions.
* Using Solidworks to develop 3D manufacturable parts and creating manufacturing drawings from your models.
* Applying an accurate, clear & consistent approach to all production technical drawings, ensuring revision control is maintained.
* Managing files in a structured and consistent manner, following established departmental protocols, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
* Supporting the Project Management team on prototype builds getting hands-on in all areas to ensure the best possible quality prototype.
* Attending client meetings to review prototype development, fielding any client queries regarding the Development Design, recording client feedback and sharing amends back with the Design Team for implementation.
* Identifying new trends and innovations in areas related to the role (manufacture processes & materials, emerging technology, retail trends).
