Design Technician
£35,000 per annum, 37.50 hours per week (flexi start finish times), Permanent, BS32 4UB Bradley Stoke, Bristol, Bonus, Pension, Holiday, Parking plus more
Established and friendly business recruiting for a new exciting role as design technician, drafts person to join their growing business. Established in the 1980's the business work on a variety of build projects operating in different sectors. Working for this team focused, family orientated business will see you supporting and reporting to the Design manager working as a vital part of the team. A driving licence is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities for the design technician, drafts person:
Producing professional drawing packages in line with project briefs.
Update and maintain designs and working drawings throughout project life cycles and on to project completion drawings/ "As Built"
Take responsibility for the management of drawing packages and the drawing issue register.
To understand project objectives and client brief, liaising and working closely with the lead designer, Project Managers for instruction and guidance.
Set and maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and speed of delivery on all project designs and drawings.
Liaise with clients in a timely manner and ensure expectations are met where appropriate.
Identify opportunities to improve designs.
Be conversant with all current legislation, especially in relation to focus on importance of building regulations and ensure compliance on all projects
Role Requirements:
Use of the following software packages and previous experience:
AutoCAD; experience
Revit; experience
Photoshop; basic use of this would be a plus .
Adobe Creative suite; Any knowledge is useful but not essential
Office; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook.
Construction knowledge; how things are built / put together
Experience in producing construction quality working drawing packages and tender packages.
Building regulations; sound knowledge particularly of fire regulations and DDA compliance.
CDM; basic knowledge of, including the roles and responsibilities of a principal designer and principal contractor.
The ability to use these documents as reference guides, while knowing the basics of things like fire regs and DDA compliance
Freehand sketching
Site surveying / taking accurate measurements, driving licence required
Ideally previous experience in the office fit-out or Laboratory sector and any experience in design would be useful
Knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems would be of benefit but not essential.
Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject or qualified by experience in technical design and drawings
