Into Film is the UK’s leading charity for film in education and the community. We provide screen industry careers information and advice, support young filmmakers, and bring the power of moving image storytelling into classroom teaching.
The core Into Film programme is free for UK state schools, colleges and other youth settings, thanks to support from the BFI, awarding National Lottery funding, and through other key funders including Cinema First and Northern Ireland Screen.
Role Summary
The Resources Officer forms part of the Learning Content Creation Team within Into Film, responsible for the devising, commissioning and delivery of high-quality, film-focused learning opportunities and courses and resources for use in both formal and informal learning settings, Into Film+, our streaming service for teachers and their pupils and on our Learning Platform which provides access to free online training courses that utilise film as a teaching and learning tool.
The main function of the Resources Officer, under the overall direction of the team lead, is to plan, create, deliver and evaluate film-focused materials for online content. Along with the rest of their team, they act in an advisory capacity across the organisation on curriculum and pedagogical matters. A portion of the role is administrative.
Main Responsibilities:
* Contribute to Into Film’s Resources catalogue by planning, creating and uploading interesting and exciting resources, online materials and assets for both educator and young person facing audiences.
* Oversee and advise on resources content created by other Into Film staff, external organisations or freelance writers.
* Support resources projects from initiation to publication..
* Evaluate resources, online materials and related areas of organisational interest through surveys, focus groups and other methods to identify and implement changes and programme developments that meet Into Film’s and our audiences’ needs and priorities.
* Develop, with the rest of the team, reliable quality assurance processes for our resources and online programmes.
* Deliver external and internal training on resources to a range of staff and stakeholders, including supporting internal staff with advice and information about education.
* Support the Corporate Partnerships team by contributing to pitches and amending drafts of income-generating commercial resources, created for film studio partners.
* Support the creation, delivery and evaluation of pilot programmes to test resource content and approaches.
* Copy writing for industry journals (e.g. NATE) and the Into Film News and Views.
* Contribute to the development of the educational video resources.
* Serve as a representative for the wider Learning Content Creation team by taking on additional agreed and defined areas of responsibility that support Into Film’s strategic areas of focus.
* Complete resources-related administrative tasks.
General Responsibilities:

* Contribute to the regular monitoring and evaluation of Into Film’s work as required

Person Specification:
Minimum Requirements:
* Teaching experience in the UK.
* Knowledge of online learning content.
* Experience of creating resources or lesson plans which include moving image/film.
* Demonstrable creativity and commitment to making resources interesting and exciting for teachers/educators and students/young people.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to write accurately and correctly, and the ability to persuade and influence others and feedback ideas in a professional manner.
* Experience of chairing and guiding meetings.
* Experience of managing a range of projects, from initiation to completion, working with a range of stakeholders.
* Understanding of data monitoring and evaluation, including self-evaluation and of projects managed.
* Commitment to film and screen industries as a powerful tool for education, a cultural art form and a means to engage young people and raise attainment.
* Experience and knowledge of filmmaking to at least a basic level.
* Experience of skills development and transference to educational and vocational routes of progression.
* Experience of juggling multiple priorities.
* Current knowledge of the Microsoft Office for PC suite, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
* Awareness of the education landscape across all 4 nations.
