Mech Tech Professionals is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for our niche manufacturer in the Bridgend area.

Our client is a successful and innovative organisation who manufacture hi-tech capital equipment for worldwide export.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be supporting the Design team with new product development, providing engineering support for current products to increase productivity and performance and build of small component design to complex turnkey solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Working in partnership with electrical, controls and software engineers to design and implement cost-effective equipment and solutions for engineering problems and help improve safety, reliability and throughput.

* Produce details of specifications and outline designs.

* Develop project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines.

* Design robust solutions within a 3D environment, ensuring best practice modelling to minimise waste and eliminate conflicting information between models and drawings.

* Create documentation for the release of products to production, including but not limited to BoM, spares list, build instructions and assembly drawings.

* Discuss and problem solve complex problems with customers, internal departments, subcontractors and suppliers, considering the implications of any issues such as cost, safety and time constraints.

* Assembly of prototypes, recommending modifications following prototype test results.

* Prepare product documentation for service, publications and sales and marketing.

* Create engineering drawings conforming to BS8888, ISO 9001 and internal company standards for presentation to various suppliers.

* Ensuring designs conform to international standards and directives.

* Undertake any other projects and duties as requested which are within the competence of the job holder.

To be considered for this role, the ideal candidate will be qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent. A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a product development environment, particularly design for manufacture, assembly and service, ensuring that design concepts can be constantly manufactured to enable replication of function and operation.

Skills and experience required:

* Experience of using Autodesk Inventor for part drawing and assembly creation is essential. Other CAD packages would be considered. (Creo, SolidWorks).

* Experience of BoM creation and control within CAD package.

* Experience of Vault or other PLM software.

* Ability to interpret and evaluate both mechanical and electrical drawings.

* Knowledge and experience of working within a formal ECN process to maintain clear and accurate records of changes within drawings.

Willingness to travel and undertake customer visits when required.
