Waterway Operative
Job Type : Contract, Full Time
Salary : £9.86/hour
We are looking to recruit a number of Waterway Operatives for our client based in the Maccelsfield area. Immediate starts available. Possible temp to perm situation for the right people.
• Based on the Peak Forest and Macclesfield Canals and associated reservoirs
• Managing the water control on both canals
• Assisting the local operations team with vegetation and maintenance works
• Managing water levels during weather events at Toddbrook Reservoir
• Hours will be 36 – 60 per week depending on weather conditions
• 8am – 4pm during normal weather conditions assisting the team with day to day maintenance / 8pm – 8am during weather events to manage water levels at Toddbrook Reservoir
• Working shift pattern will be Thursday to Tuesday and this may be days or nights depending on the weather and can change at short notice
• Full training and PPE provided – no specific skills required, just the ability to be flexible and reactive and work within
• Driving licence required, must be able to get to site or base in own vehicle. Company vehicles available to move between sites to carry out tasks
