Veterinary Nurse

Job Type : Contract, Full Time

Salary : £13.77/hour

Are you a veterinary nurse with experience in general practice? Looking for something slightly different?

We have an amazing opportunity for nurses that want to join us in delivering on our purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. We offer a stable work pattern, with no night or on call work, and with direct day to day contact with our pets, so you can keep your clinical skills up to date.

In this role, you will deliver and support the provision of veterinary care to our pet population. This underpins the effective and efficient delivery of the research programme at Waltham Petcare Science Institute.

Due to continued expansion, we are recruiting seven Veterinary Nurse Specialists to join our team at Waltham, a global research and development site for our Client. Our research spans multiple disciplines such as nutrient requirements for pets, the dog and cat microbiome, biomarkers of health and disease, and feeding behaviour.

Our veterinary care programme ensures we have a healthy pet population that can participate in research trials. You will therefore need to work in partnership with our research team to understand the trial requirements and minimise the impact of veterinary care on research outputs without compromising animal welfare. Based on one or more of our animal units, you will be part of the operational team, as well as working in collaboration with the veterinary services team.

You will also have the opportunity to focus on your development, alongside being an important part of the team that provides high quality veterinary care to our pets.

Collection of health and research data from our dogs and cats (e.g. bodyweights, oral health assessments)
Performing animal health checks.
Identify and act upon continuous improvement initiatives in Veterinary Services and Operations.
Support cat/dog breeding programmes.
Delivering veterinary treatments and responding to veterinary queries during core hours at weekends. What would your working pattern be?

The role will work on a rota basis to allow the cover of veterinary duties 7 days a week by the team. You will need to work approximately every 2 out of 7 weekends. A working day will be 8 hours long, during core business hours (6.30am-5pm). No routine night work will be required.

During the week, you will be responsible for delivering key duties on your animal unit. Each weekend, two Veterinary Nurse Specialists will be responsible for administering treatments and responding to veterinary queries for all the animal units on site.
