Tree Nursery Manager
Essex
£45k plus car allowance

Have you always thought about being at the forefront of commercial growing?

Dreamed of supporting building a brand-new nursery, but never had the chance? This is your chance. This business is just about to start setting up a state-of-the-art nursery and they want you to support it.

They are at the forefront of the arboriculture space, and the business is constantly working on new and innovative projects, with this being one of them.

They need you. Someone that understands a commercial tree-growing operation and is always interested in new methods of growing.

What's the Role?
Anyone in a nursery position at present will know what's involved.

Ordering and coordinating with suppliers for pots, substrates, and fertilisers. Working with young tree plant suppliers. Managing a small team. Managing crop protection products and working with external agronomists. Managing that process from potting through to dispatch.

This role will be managing a team of 14 at peak, going down to 3 people at quieter times.

As this is a senior position, you'll be reporting regularly to the company directors as well as managing budgets.

To do this role, you'll need to have been in a nursery or production manager role before. You will already know hardy ornamental growing, fertilizers and substrates, as well as the ability to train and manage those around you.

Qualification-wise, spray certificates are needed, and your FACTS/BASIS are beneficial.

Who's it for?
They're a diverse hardy ornamental business that has been running since the '80s.

As well as growing, planting and moving trees they also now specialise in soil biology, tree compaction and more.

They have an extensive network of growers throughout Europe, so are great at sourcing quality young trees for their nurseries.

How Do I Apply?
