Supplier Collaboration Engineer

Peterborough, Stafford or Shrewsbury – (Hybrid)

Up to £34/hr – Inside IR35

12 month initial contract

Off Highway – Global OEM

As a Supply Collaboration Engineer you are responsible for working with UK and European suppliers on cost and quality issues with purchasing and engineering team members. Ensuring early supplier collaboration on design for manufacturability, assembly, and costs as well as adherence to APQP.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Collaborating with suppliers and internally on new part introduction including APQP conformance
Ensures the development, analysis, and documentation of cost information supporting new product development, design and cost improvement, maintenance, make versus buy, and other special projects
Obtaining quotations and implementing engineering changes on existing part numbers
Working closely with the Buyer and Supplier Development Engineer in terms of managing supplier activity
Mediates trade off discussions early in the design process to balance performance, quality, velocity, and cost with focus on optimizing value
Leads cross functional teams to meet multiple cost opportunity objectives
Sets priorities and allocates projects to team members
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
Prior experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or as in Purchasing
Requires an engineering, manufacturing, or commercial background with a thorough level of product knowledge
A deep understanding of manufacturing processes, manufacturing methods, application of existing manufacturing, engineering, and product knowledge
Knowledge (basic speaking and writing) of another European language than English would be an advantage
Top candidates will also have:

6 Sigma Black Belt experience strongly preferred
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Able to perform cost breakdown analysis of a machined part
Past experience in Drivetrain design, manufacturing or procurement
Ability to see issues and forecast future costs so that costs are stable and predictable
Perform Total Cost of Ownership. (TCO)
Ability to travel as required.
