Our client are one of the fastest growing Fintech companies in the UK. They now have a fantastic opportunity for a Development Lead to join the Research and Development team.

Within this role you will:

* Assist in defining the Development team's technical strategy and advising on product roadmaps and migration plans to achieve strategic goals

* Identify technical and soft skills gaps in the staff reporting into this role, and to ensure that all team members achieve a standard that is expected of them

* Proactively offer guidance and support to colleagues across the business to ensure that best practice is maintained.

* Drive and enhance the deployment process on all environments.

* Responsible for work quality, ensuring it meets the technical standards for all development.

Job Purpose

Development Leads undertake a fully coaching, mentoring and managerial position. There is no expectation for this role to undertake hands-on coding everyday. However, having a Software Development background is essential. This role is essential in ensuring that policies, procedures and best practices are followed, and that outputs are documentented appropriately.

This role will utilise people management skills and the reinforcing of standards, whilst recognising that micromanagement will not benefit either individuals or the organisation.

Scope of the Job

Work across the Software Delivery team to help ensure resources are made available to meet the demands of the business and of the projects that the business requires to complete.

Oversee multiple projects concurrently.

Ensure the development of direct reports progresses in line with departmental expectations, and closely manage any performance issues appropriately.

Deliver systems that process billions of pounds worth of transactions per year, used internally and externally by up to and over 350 staff, more than 1000 clients and 5 million customers.

Essential Skills

Experience in coaching & mentoring Junior and Mid Developers to ensure quality code is produced

Experience in undertaking Personal Development plans and ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner to consistently ‘grow our own’

Where required, to have a career progression plan in place with clear focus and achievable targets

Reviewing code and unit tests to ensure it is fit for purpose and meets standards

Strong team leadership background.

Demonstrable experience leading and motivating a team.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Self-motivated, well-organised, a team player, and detail-oriented.

Experience of working in a varied environment and dealing with unpredictable events.

Demonstrable experience in software development (.NET strongly recommended) as a professional Software Engineer & experience leading a development team.

Experienced in SQLServer or Oracle, in terms of database design, stored procedures, triggers, etc. Use of ORMS.

Version control repository experience (GIT preferred)

Both Agile and waterfall methodology exposure.

Desirable

Level 6/7 certificate in Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring

Experience working in financial services sector is highly desirable.

Exposure to Cloud technologies – Azure.

BizTalk exposure.

Good backoffice integration experience via APIs (SOAP/WCF/RestAPI/Web Service calls)

Understand Intranet and Internet technologies: HTTPS, Firewall, C# MVC, HTML/DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, XML, IIS, TFS etc

Continuous integration / Build agents and servers. Enterprise level application experience (workflow products, ERP systems, CRM systems, Enterprise service bus, CMS systems)
