The Role

To own the agencies SEO strategy, processes and practices and manage the Space & Time SEO team. You will report into the Head of Digital, with the role requiring you to work closely with clients and colleagues, helping your team to set up, manage and optimise multiple campaigns, owning your own clients and also assisting with new business, attending pitches and providing proposals.

You will be responsible for the SEO team and department, governing overall strategy and ensuring that performance targets are reached. You will need to deliver regular updates to shareholders, clients and colleagues, provide actionable insight to peers, be able to highlight key SEO opportunity areas, show SEO results and follow SEO trends. You will also be responsible for the members of the team that you manage responsible for assisting them to delegate to their direct reports alongside the commercials within the SEO department.

Competencies

Experience working in SEO at a high standard, owning the strategy for multiple clients in the past and having demonstrated the capability to win new business. Agency experience is essential, the candidate will have experience managing a team and managing several high-profile clients across different industries.

You will need a commercially focused, can-do attitude, mixed with a friendly and positive outlook. A strong passion for SEO and data insight is essential, relishing the prospect of working across multiple accounts and platforms and managing a team, within a fast-paced agency environment.

Communication

Liaise with internal stakeholders and build effective working relationships, especially with Account Directors and educate them on the importance of SEO

Mediate with clients and lead meetings both internally and externally

Ability to lead meetings and calls with your expert knowledge of SEO and make decisions based upon previous experiences and understanding, tying strategies together for the “bigger picture”

Ability to provide consultation to both clients and internal stakeholders on SEO processes and opportunities, in some cases on-the-fly if required

Ability to effectively run the SEO department, seek out opportunities to improve commercials and train up, support and manage the departments members

Role Management

Liaise with developers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues

Advanced working knowledge of Office Suite, incl. Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Ability to fully own accounts, whilst offering regular analysis & insight into performance

Capability to put together working roadmaps for clients over 3 – 6 month periods

Ability to piece together strategies in a way that works toward the holistic whole of SEO, ensuring that optimisations are working off of one another and taking initiative with strategies

Commercial Acumen

Chase opportunities for increased client growth, providing opportunities to upsell additional work that can benefit their marketing strategies

Ensure yourself and delegates are conducting work at an efficient rate, taking time to properly learn topics and deliverable processes to enhance work rate without compromising quality

The capability to lead SEO pitches to new prospective clients, alongside forecasting and creating proposals, with a good understanding of internal commercials

Focusing on existing clients, working alongside content teams to identify capability to upsell further content work to enhance SEO performance

Ability to provide SEO training to clients

Leadership & Initiative

Proactively seek opportunities to support beyond your regular duties

Ability to identify SEO opportunities and quick wins on-the-fly to identify new solutions & ideas for both clients & internal processes

Capability to manage and delegate work toward the SEO team, providing review and feedback on work produced and managing expectations of time and deadlines to clients

Actively share SEO insight throughout the team to garner better SEO understanding and create relevant processes and learning materials/templates

Ability to manage a team and be the point of contact for any issues that arise within the SEO team

Strategic Excellence

Have a good understanding of other channels and how they can work with SEO, being utilised by Space & Time clients, attending training to refresh knowledge where required

Have an excellent knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Google Search Console and how to gather insight from each, alongside understanding of insight gathering from tools such as AhRefs

An expert knowledge of both technical and content SEO, with the capability to create comprehensive SEO audits to a high standard and combine all parts of SEO to work together as a successful strategy

Have knowledge of scripts, frameworks and other technical elements that are required to identify faults or flaws in on-site SEO
