The role:
A Local Council require an external communications professional for a period of at least 6 months, to assist with the May 2022 elections and other projects
You will:
1. Contribute to production, coordination and implementation of proactive media relations plans, campaigns, narratives and messages in line with wider communications plans, working with colleagues and agencies as required to deliver campaigns and projects and ensure a consistent voice.
2. To effectively manage the Council’s relationship with the media, undertaking proactive and reactive work to deliver agreed outcomes and supporting nominated spokespeople in working with the media
3. To provide a full media relations service to local, national and specialist media working proactively to promote the Council in a way that is consistent with its vision and values including writing, issuing and monitoring press releases, arranging photo opportunities and press conferences and supporting officers and members giving media interviews
Key skills and Experience
* Experience of working effectively with a range of media including local, community, national and professional plus social media
* Public Sector / Government experience would be preferred but is not essential
