Due to exciting additional investment across the group and ambitious plans for the future We have a new career opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager
Based at our Midlands Office to join our ever busy and expanding team, this will be working on a diverse range of projects giving first rate commercial support and guidance to our business units and senior leadership teams
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pre and post commercial advice/support to the operational teams across the Groups Business Units.
* Support the Operation Directors in providing a customer focused service and attaining the highest standards of operational delivery to maximise projects profitability and minimise risk
* Support the projects by providing advice and feedback in the promotion of best commercial practice throughout the company
* Be responsible for all insurance renewals across the Edwin James Group and the main point of contact with our insurance broker
* Protect stakeholder interests through full use of the company governance framework during the tendering gateways
* Take responsibility for financial performance for the business units
* Review and interrogate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
* Work effectively with the project teams in the identification of cost overspend to maximise profit
* Support the bidding process commercially
* Where new opportunities are identified ensure each tender has the appropriate level of review and tender risk assessment within the project and company. Represent the commercial function at tender reviews
* Review subcontracts, provide advice and support to the operational team such that subcontracts reflect the contract specific requirements in addition to the company standard terms

Skills & Experience
* A successful work history in commercial management with a record of contract negotiation, risk management and contract implementation
* Supreme communication skills
* Has strong negotiation and influencing skills and delivered in a professional manner
* A person with a desire to effectively apply and manage commercial activities in a business environment. They must be able to work on their own initiative and be able to schedule workload to meet priorities
* A forensic approach to detail
* A professional attitude, conduct and demeanour that reflects the EJG values and who is able to effectively represent the company when dealing with customers and consultants
* A person with a strong desire to share and influence in the future growth and success of the business. Must have a flexible approach to accommodate the demands of an expanding company
Specific Qualifications
* We expect that suitable candidates will be educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying or a similar subject.
* Someone who holds membership to professional body (not essential)
