Software Sales Executive – SaaS Accounting software

Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary : £32000 – £35000/annum OTE £60k + car allowance

We are looking for a Software Sales Executive / Account Manager to work for a hugely successful business focused on web based MIS & Accounting software for schools, mainly in the private sector. They sell an accounting add-on solution that has superb functionality for looking after the finance, accounting, purchasing and payroll aspects of running a school. This role is to get in front of school bursars and demonstrate the software so that they agree to switch from whatever they currently have (such as Xero, Sage 50, QuickBooks etc.) to your SaaS offering.

The advantages of switching are that the systems are then full integrated, there is less keying in to do, no scrappy integration and one seamless MIS and Finance solution.

This software sales role is to work on warm leads and sell about one deal a week. Average deal size is £9k and your target would be £450k. It is a trust based, consultative sales role, focused on long term relationship building. The position is remote, based from home anywhere in the UK. Base salary to £35k, uncapped OTE of £60k plus car allowance.

You will need to go into their head office in the Midlands for monthly meetings – but the location on the advert is just a point of reference. You might live anywhere from Southampton, to Bristol, Wales, Leeds, Peterborough, Gloucester, London, Essex – it doesn't matter. However you must be happy travelling to client sites, nationwide as required.

They need someone with a strong background in accounts, has accounting qualifications (minimum AAT level – or above) who can gain the trust of the school finance people, such as bursars, accountants and so on, and understands the terminology and principles of accounting. Alongside your accounts background, you will have worked in a sales role or account management role, and will have a proven track record of success in winning new customers, or upselling to and retaining existing clients. Ideally you will have sold a SaaS solution, which had some type of finance or accounting element to it. Obviously if you have sold a schools MIS & accounting solution before, you would be in a strong position!

You will get a lot of warm leads from the marketing department, and will focus on selling to these customers, discussing the schools requirements, demonstrating the software to show how it best fits their needs, and identifying functions that it has, that are not available within their current software product. Your aim will be to win the client, build strong relationships and account manage them in the future, upselling services, add-ons and upgrades. You will also go to events, trade shows and exhibitions, where you will network for potential new customers.

The company really look after their clients; you can expect these clients to have a high opinion of the current software, so your job is to continue with that quality relationship and make sure that the solution is sold well, cleanly and correctly. This job and company would suit someone who is happy to do the right thing and get the rewards in the long term. This is consultative selling, trust based selling, and relationship building – it is not pushy or aggressive selling in any form.

You will have sold software, managed accounts, and built relationships. Your communication skills are excellent, you can present and demo software confidently and professionally, and you build rapport and trust easily. You are passionate about technology and how it can simplify the life of accountants.
