Research Platform Engineer

Salary : £38000 – £45000/annum

Our client is looking for a Research Platform Engineer to join their interdisciplinary team and manager the Biomedical Research Centre infrastructure.
Main responsibilities as a Research Platform Engineer include but not limited to:
* The design and configuration of the myHealthE (MHE) DevOps platform and operational processes (e.g. Azure DevOps)
* Maintenance, monitoring, reporting and analysis of the myHealthE systems
* Support MHE systems engineers to build in-house cloud services
* Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support to the MHE clinical research team
* Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
* Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
* Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?
* Degree level education
* At least 3 years’ experience in DevOps
* Knowledge and experience of various aspects of data management and SQL databases (T-SQL, PostGres, MySQL)
* Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker)
* Knowledge of container management tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
* Knowledge of server-side scripting languages and their frameworks (e.g. PHP and Laravel)
* Ability to understand and overcome scaling issues relating to processing and analysing large-scale datasets
