STEM Source is recruiting a talented individual to manage our clients motor controller projects from concept design through to successful series production launch whilst providing leadership to a team of experienced, electronics, firmware mechanical and functional safety engineers.

Vital to this role you must have in-depth knowledge of engineering principles, a sound knowledge of ISO26262 or similar (IEC 61508 etc.), TS16949 and SPICE and strong analytical and technical writing skills.

Key Responsibilities will include:

* Acting as the prime technical and project interface to the client’s key customers

* The generation of realistic achievable project plans using MS Project and driving through to completion

* Interfacing between electrical, mechanical and software teams in the development of motor controllers

* Organising the delivery of projects with cross-functional teams

* Identifying key project and product risk areas, track and develop mitigating actions for the team

* Supporting the completion of the functional safety (ISO26262) process, IATF16949 and SPICE

* Ensuring project best practices and design are followed, identifying any gaps and developing processes as the company grows

* Progressing top-level discussions with key suppliers on costs, timing, PPAP, APQP, and delivery requirements

* Working closely with the Sales Team to realise technical opportunities with developing customers

* Providing updates of progress to management on the state of projects, developing action plans to resolve issues

* Ensuring the development, procurement, assembly and delivery to meet project timing.

Desirable experience and skills:

* Established experience of working within a relevant technical industry

* Established track record of engineering ability in software, electrical or mechanical discipline

* Experience with managing customers technically and commercially to ensure quality, delivery and costs are always clear

* Awareness of best practice development processes, requirements and expectations

* A strong track record of successful project delivery

* Highly experienced with using MS Project and practical project/risk management techniques

* Established track record of engineering ability in a mechanical or electrical discipline

* A sound analytical approach paired with instinctive problem-solving skills

* A ‘self-starter’ attitude with energy and enthusiasm and the ability to thrive within a small/medium business environment

* The ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines whilst managing conflicting demands

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-practised in negotiation and presentations

* Experience of working within a Tier 1 environment preferable

* Must have a full valid UK driving license and the ability to travel.
