On behalf of the South West Peatland Partnership, South West Water are delighted that we have successfully secured funding from Natural England’s Nature for Climate Peatlands Restoration scheme which is made up of regional and local organisations to restore 2,634 hectares of damaged peatland in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, saving a total of 652,625 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. As we move into this exciting new phase, you’ll be joining us as we enter a time of innovation, creativity and vision. This is a tremendous opportunity and the projects you will be working on can only add value and help preserve the future of our natural environment.
We currently have an opportunity available for a Project Manager to join our team working in Exeter or Prince Town, with a hybrid working arrangement. You will join us on a full-time, fixed term contract until 2025, and in return, you will receive a salary of £38,000 – £40,000 per annum plus benefits.
About the role:
In this fantastic opportunity you will drive a number of exciting projects that will involve using your ability manage budgets and demonstrate your team leadership skills. With your excellent written communication and verbal skills, you will work with a variety of stakeholders and provide project reporting to the SWW board on the progress towards the programme outputs on a monthly basis, as well as taking the lead for external reporting to Defra, EA, Ofwat and SWW auditors on the statutory and regulatory programme outputs, including WINEP, DWI and ODI outcomes.
What you’ll be doing:
* Programme management and other delivery activities for the SWPP Nature for Climate Peatland Restoration Grant Scheme and Green Recovery (GR) Dartmoor+ project
* Line management of the Communications and Education Officers
* Programme management duties include financial planning, forecasting and reporting
* Quarterly review meetings with all partner teams, monthly and quarterly progress reports, and close working with the UST Contracts Manager
* Financial management and project reporting to Defra on the Peatland grant delivery, working closely with the Defra Grant manager and the SWW peatland manager
* Leading for project management forecasting and reporting via oracle and OPC for GR Dartmoor+
* Supporting the communications by providing Upstream Thinking media (newspapers/web articles/monthly reports etc), attending external events to promote peatlands and catchment management
* Leading for the reporting to the SWW board on progress towards the programme outputs on a monthly basis
* Attendance at external events and related catchment partnership and stakeholder meetings
* Dealing with and working with the Communications Officer regarding incoming communications, corresponding as required on behalf of the team
* Preparation of presentations and the development of promotional materials, social media and website. Working with the SWW Communications team and external partners in the development of the above
* Maintaining data and file systems to enable the reporting of concise, well presented, standardised and auditable records for the department to conform to business requirements
What we are looking for:
* An environmental advocate who is naturally passionate about sustainable land management.
* Degree or equivalent qualification
* Driving licence
* Project management qualifications
* Programme and Project Management at a high level with multi-million £ budgets and outcomes
* Understanding of catchment management and peatland restoration
