Poultry Caretaker
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £25700/annum Pension and Healthcare
My Client is looking for a Poultry Caretaker to join their rearing farm in Lincolnshire. This role is based on a shift pattern of 6 days on, 2 days off. Rates per hour depend on the day worked as weekend pay is higher, rates are between £9.47 and £18.94 per hour. The average yearly salary following this shift pattern is £25,700 inclusive of weekend working
Job purpose:
The key responsibility of this position is ensuring that the premium livestock is well maintained and always ensuring wellbeing of the birds.
Tasks and Responsibilities
To proactively maintain poultry to a high standard through:
* Ensuring that the chickens have access to fresh water and food to maintain full health and vigour.
* Ensuring that chickens are free from pain, injury or disease by ensuring preventative measures.
* Ensuring that conditions and treatment avoid mental suffering to the chickens
* To observe all hygiene rules, this includes personal hygiene, hand washing, boot dipping/changing and the wearing of all protective clothing.
* To strictly adhere to all bio-security rules.
* To ensure food is weighed accurately.
* Maintain Poultry house hygiene, dusting, light fitment cleaning, sweeping and cleaning boot dips.
* Maintain accurate record keeping – house temperature, mortality etc.
* Keeping the farm clean and tidy.
* Adhere to all Poultry Farm Health and Safety rules and procedures.
* Any other reasonable requests made by the Poultry Farm Manager
