Redfox has been commissioned by a major fresh produce business with very sound backing and a desire to expand further in the UK and in Europe. Their model services the UK & European retailers through various distribution channels for a successful direct trading relationship. As part of their business planning, they have invested in successfully growing operations in the UK and in Europe.

As part of their positive growth plans, they are looking for an individual to join them as a key Packhouse Manager for their South Coast operation.

The key purpose of the role is to partner with the Head of Supply chain to lead the operational objectives of the packhouse, manage the team, and ensure the smooth and cost-efficient running of the Packhouse team.

Main Duties – Health and Safety, Food safety compliance

* Ensure that all work carried out is completed in line with Health and Safety protocols.

* Ensure all relevant records and documents are in place and up to date.

* Ensure that our clients' product meets food safety, labelling legality and quality requirements.

* Plant, equipment and machinery are all maintained to ensure all areas are safe, clean and tidy and meet company requirements.

* Ensure all staff are trained in and are conducting safe operating procedures for all equipment and machinery on site.

* Ensure all staff are aware of Health and Safety policy and follow correct process if any near misses or incident/accident occur.

* Site remains clean and tidy at all times.

* The Health and Safety Policy is followed, all accidents and near misses are reported and actions implemented to reduce future occurrence.

Main Duties – Operational

* Manage plant and equipment, building assets and maintenance schedules.

* Manage and ensure all packhouse technical specifications are implemented, managed, recorded and monitored according to company specifications.

* Optimize fruit performance, minimise fruit loss and assist in maintaining cool chain integrity throughout the site.

* Ensure all production meets standards and line speed targets are met.

* Ensure all orders are completed in a planned and timely manner, highlighting any issues arising in a timely manner.

* Performance Targets are met and exceeded where possible through understanding the impact of decisions made.

* Implement a continual improvement culture, ensuring the teams are always striving to improve performance.

Main Duties – Packhouse Strategy, Policy and Processes

* Implement and assist in the development of crop packing plans in order to optimize technology and plant.

* Assist in the packaging planning and scheduling of supply.

* Report grower/site production data for reconciliation purposes.

* Ensure BRC and customer compliance standards are met and maintain facilities to a compliant standard at all times.

* Policy, plans and procedures are followed as appropriate.

* Compliance standards are maintained at all times.

Main Duties – People Management

* Work proactively with HR to ensure correct levels of staffing.

* Carefully plan out labour planning to ensure efficient staff plans across the various shift patterns and seasonal volume profiles.

* Manage, lead and train staff ensuring a clear understanding of packhouse-specific processes and policies.

* Monitor and manage staff working hours effectively.

* Excellent people-management skills, specifically D&I and Cultural Awareness.

What We Are Keen to See From You

5years+ FMCG.

Experience in food manufacturing operations.

Proven experience in Packhouse/process change & growth.

Lean training, minimum of Yellow belt accredited ideally.

Good working knowledge of the Bulgarian Language and preferably others too such as Ukrainian, Polish etc would be very beneficial
