Outreach tutor

Salary : £18 – £25/hour negotiable
1st staff are looking to recruit for an Outreach Tutor to work one to one with a child placed within our education team. We want to help each child therapeutically and educationally, whether that’s putting the students back into a specialist or mainstream education as soon as it is practical or getting them to finish off their functional skills.
As an Outreach tutor you will be working with children with learning difficulties and/or behavioural issues on a 1 to 1 basis. Students ages can range between 4-18 years of age. You will need to build a quick rapport and a healthy working relationship with students and be able to adapt your teaching style to the child’s strength to help them reach their full potential.
Your role will be to tutor the student on a 1 to 1 basis for a maximum of 15 hours a week normally split into 5 3-hour days over the entire week. You will need to have an excellent understanding of SEND, be dynamic and proactive and have strong behaviour management skills. You will also need to have good Maths and English skills and be able to tutor children through various subject matter within these areas at GCSE or Functional Skills levels. Curriculum and support will be provided by our head of education.
