Salary : £12.10/hour

Operatives may be deployed as either a Loader or as a Street Cleansing Operative entirely at management discretion.

MUST HAVE A DRIVING LICENCE

Loader

Collect waste from requested locations
Work as a member of a team within a group of teams
Receive instructions from Supervisors and communicate them to other crew members
Ensure the satisfactory completion of work in accordance with instructions
Maintain the best operational relationship between the public, other customers and client representatives by dealing courteously with complaints and enquiries
Ensure that where premises, gates, barriers etc are unlocked to gain access that they are relocked, paying particular attention to the safeguarding of keys
Clear rubbish irresponsibly dumped (i.e. fly tipped)
Give advice, guidance and assistance to new or inexperienced staff
Follow method statements, risk assessments and route and round risk assessments
Be compliant with Health and Safety at work requirements
Carry out any reasonable task or undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be required
At all times carrying out responsibilities/duties with regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy
Street Cleaning

Undertake all aspects of street cleaning works including scheduled and reactive cleaning using both manual and mechanical methods, litter bin emptying, flytip removal, flyposting and graffiti removal and litter bin installation.
Undertake all cleaning duties safely, to a high standard and in line with the Council’s values
Willingness to assist in the provision of a 7 day a week service which may include weekend and bank holiday working.
Drive or operate the vehicles and plant required to complete cleaning duties where you have a relevant licence. Where so, complete appropriate safety checks on all vehicles, plant and equipment and carry out maintenance and reporting defects as required.
Report and record status of street cleaning tasks, using handheld electronic devices where necessary.
Liaise with members of the public, other team members, managers and sub-contractors in a professional and courteous manner.
Attend project and work briefings as required.
Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation
Assist with other areas of the contract including refuse and recycling, winter maintenance and grounds maintenance as required.
