Description:
As part of a team of networking professional, jointly manage and support all aspects of IT network infrastructure and supporting systems at the University. This includes design, implementation, security, configuration, troubleshooting, and co-ordination. Infrastructure includes datacentres, equipment rooms, physical network, all active network equipment, voice, CCTV, Wi-Fi, IoT and associated services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take the initiative to keep abreast of technical and industry developments relating to IT Technology and explore new opportunities to improve the network infrastructure.
* Oversee network analytics and monitoring with a view to making informed recommendations regarding the University infrastructure Support the department in implementing ITIL best practice procedure in relation to all aspects of change and configuration management.
* Knowledge transfer and skills development across the Infrastructure Team, and in particular supporting the development of junior posts across all areas of IT Services.
* Maintain a supportive working relationship with ITS colleagues, customers and external suppliers.
* Assist in the design and implementation of major new networking projects.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience of designing and configuring and maintaining secure layer 2 and 3 networks.
* Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN design.
* Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switching and routing equipment including IOS, Datacentre, Core and Edge.
* Experience using network monitoring tools and network analytics.
* CCNA or other relevant qualifications, or equivalent experience
