Tate are working with a well-established and well trusted business to recruit for the role of Media and Communications Officer on a remote basis.

As a Communications Officer, you will work as part of an account management team delivering integrated communications for directors/heads of service which includes media, marketing, and internal communications work.

Key duties:

Provide a proactive and reactive integrated communications and public relations service for the organisation including developing campaign and story ideas to promote the policies of the business.
Deal with enquiries from across all communications channels and ensure that the business's position is credible and effectively communicated. The role holder will be required to speak on behalf of the authority and, where no support is available, or deadlines dictate, to be capable of improvising credible and accurate responses drawn from own knowledge and experience of the organisation. Role holder will be quoted regularly in various communications on and offline as a spokesperson for the business and be capable of doing so without guidance.
Provide advice and strategies to maximise positive communications coverage for the business, including advice and support to officers (including the Chief Executive) and elected Members working with officers from a wide range of different service areas across the business and external partners e.g., NHS, CCG and Police
Devise creative and outcome specific strategies for proactive communications campaigns to enhance the reputation of the business, including campaign and internal communications.
Write and edit high-quality, clear copy within tight deadlines for audiences online, media, senior officers, partners, and staff that contribute to the organisation's core objectives and are relevant to their target audience.
Organise photo shoots, photocalls and briefings for media and staff, organising communications events including planning and delivering events to a high standardEssential Criteria:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a communications or related field e.g., journalism, marketing
Media relations / campaign work experience
Good understanding the issues facing local government, including an understanding of the law as it applies to local government communications.
Significant experience of working in a communications role and an understanding of different communications channels, including online and digital, and how the media works.This role requires exceptional persuasion skills and will require you to liaise with very senior management.
