Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary : £32000 – £36500/annum £32-36k per annum
Our client, an international engineering business based in the Southampton area, is now looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
This role would be suitable for a Graduate engineer with 2-3 years post-graduate experience, or a Design Engineer looking for the next step in their career!
The successful candidate should have strong 3D CAD experience, ideally with Inventor!
Key Duties:
1. Design market leading products applying sound engineering practice in a timeframe consistent with the business objectives.
2. Apply innovation to product design, optimising value added performance characteristics and functionality to gain competitive advantage.
3. Interpret and apply relevant engineering standards, legislation, certification and customer compliance requirements.
4. Compile design reports, stress calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, FEA, CFD and other relevant design validation methodology.
5. Take leadership in design validation and qualification testing, including planning R&D and Sub-contracted recourses.
6. Drive concurrent engineering applying, appreciation for manufacturing methodology, process capability, assembly, testing methodology and inspection process and capability.
7. Apply VAVE to product design, ensuring manufacturing costs are minimised and cost targets are achieved working coherently with production engineers.
8. Provide detailed instructions for manufacture, inspection and R&D testing within the New Product Development process.
9. Maintain and apply lean principles to the engineering environment.
