Our Wrexham based client has been established for more than half a century and are market leaders in the formulation, development and manufacture of animal feed solutions for customers throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic multi skilled, mechanically biased shift maintenance engineer to complement their professional multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working on a rotating 4 days on, 4 days off 12hr shifts basis (and also part of an on-call rota which will include nights where applicable), the successful maintenance engineer candidate will be tasked with carrying out a range of PPM and reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs on a range of plant and equipment to ensure minimal downtime and production targets are achieved and effective and efficient operation of the mill production and intake systems are sustained.

You will be responsible for proactively undertaking plant maintenance in accordance with the planned schedule and will liaise extensively with the manufacturing team to ensure production interruptions are minimised and issues escalated promptly as required.

Adhering to relevant Health, Safety and hygiene standards, policies and procedures at all times and ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and a safe working environment, you will ensure that all relevant maintenance records are accurately recorded and maintained along with maintaining adequate resources of materials and equipment through effective liaison with suppliers to ensure the needs of the department are met.

Other responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) assessing production requirements with the management team to reallocate resources to meet the changing needs of the customer or business, driving continuous improvement activities to ensure efficiency, quality and performance targets are exceeded whilst operating within budgetary and timescale constraints as applicable, and liaising with other internal and external customers as appropriate to ensure efficient communication and all requirements are met.

To be considered for this varied and challenging maintenance engineer opportunity it is envisaged that the successful candidates will have completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship and demonstrate appropriate engineering qualifications (minimum 17th Edition IEE regs certificate and C&G or above) along with at least 3 years' experience gained within a manufacturing or production engineering team-based environment. You will demonstrate solid experience of working to Health and Safety and Environmental regulations and possess previous CMMS systems experience as well as being comfortable in using the MS suite of packages, with good knowledge of Star Delta and PLC's proving distinctly advantageous.
