Eventus Finance are seeking a Cost Drafts Person to join a legal firm based in Bolton. An exciting opportunity to work within a busy cost department providing an excellent costing service to clients.

Role responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be to provide support to the departments and clients in preparing claims for payment. You will prepare costs schedules for negotiation, solicitor client bills and gross sum bills, schedules for summary assessment and costs Estimates. You will prepare and deal with bills for detailed assessment, to include Precedent S electronic bills, points of dispute, points of reply, and all other steps and documents within the costs process or that a case may require. You will ensure the firm and client gets paid the maximum amount possible on every file. You will be working closely with the fee earner and client. This will include providing advice upon costs negotiations and recoveries and effecting swift and accurate payment and settlement. You will ensure that files are satisfactorily concluded, where necessary disbursements paid, and files closed and returned according to procedures laid down by the department. Responsibility for ensuring that payments are allocated to the correct file when funds are received will be within your remit as will ensuring that firm and client instructions and requirements are followed and KPI’s met.

Person specification

You will be an experienced Drafts Person and will be used to drafting bills and schedules of costs, to include new model form Precedent S electronic Bills. You will be used to providing advice on costs issues and of researching costs law. You will have experience of working in a solicitor’s office and have experience of drafting points of reply and ideally will have attended Hearings. You will be familiar with costs management to include preparation of budgets and budget discussion reports, plus Precedent T documents. You will demonstrate the ability to prioritise work to ensure agreed service levels of maintained and will have a high level of numeracy and literacy along with a good standard of I.T. literacy and keyboard skills. You will have good influencing skills and good communication skills both face to face and over the telephone. You will also have good organisational and time management skills with great accuracy and attention to detail.
