Salary : £26000 – £30000/annum

Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Legal Accounts Assistant to work in the Accounts department. The working hours of the role will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5.15pm and can be working fully remote.

It is essential that the candidate has an understanding of the principles of accounting and 5+ years’ experience of working in a legal accounts environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Monitor the online banking system regularly and ensure that all receipts of client money are notified to fee earners and their departments and recorded in the firm’s accounting records promptly.

* Post to the accounting records and transmit all BACS and CHAPS payments in a timely manner.

* Daily bank reconciliations on client and office account.

* Post bills and carry out client to office transfers.

* Taking payments via virtual card terminals.

* Maintain and update nominal and purchase ledgers and petty cash transactions.

* Assist in the preparation of VAT returns.

* Assist in the monthly processing of payroll.

* Assist in the Month End process.

* Assist fee earners and support staff with financial queries.

* Liaise with auditors.

* Reviewing client residual balances and ensuring funds are returned in a timely fashion.

* Ad-hoc processing of Interest calculations.

* Carry out ad-hoc duties as requested from time to time by the Finance Director or Practice Director.

Requirements:

5+ years’ experience working in a similar role.

Understanding of principles of accounting.

Knowledge of financial guidelines with regards to Solicitors Accounts Rules.

DPS Spitfire and OneOffice experience would be preferred but is not essential

Ability to use Barclays online banking system.

Numerate and accurate.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
