Information Governance Officer Salary:
£24,500 to £28,000 annually, depending on experience/qualifications.
Hours of work: 36.5 hours a week
Monday to Thursday – 9am to 5pm
Friday – 9am to 4pm
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Information Governance Officer to join a friendly bunch at a well established solicitors in the Rochdale area. This role in summary is to provide support to the legal team on all aspects of data protection and information governance matters.
* This will include: drafting emails and letters, reviewing and redacting documents, compliance and some client-facing advisory support
The successful candidate must be energetic, bright with a can-do attitude and have the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
Information Governance Officer Key Responsibilities:
* Provide feedback and input, supporting the directors in development of the firm's data protection services and products.
* Manage a caseload of data protection and Freedom of Information matters including requests, and drafting acknowledgement/response letters.
* Provide support to clients that have reported a data breach, including communicating remedial steps, whether the breach has crossed the notification threshold to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) and updating corresponding records.
* Supporting clients with SARs (Subject Access Requests), including drafting acknowledgement letters.
* Operate a review and redaction service (reviewing documents to be disclosed under a SAR and removing any information which should not be disclosed).
* Supporting clients with carrying out data protection impact assessments.
Skills and Experience Required by an Information Governance Officer:
* Previous experience within a similar role.
* Knowledge on data protection.
* Previous working knowledge and experience with SARs & the ICO.
* Experience in minute taking, letter writing, document holding etc.
* Enthusiastic, committed & driven to achieve effective results and reach all targets.
