I’m looking for two qualified, time-served HGV technicians to form a new night shift for a really excellent repair and maintenance business in Bedfordshire.
You’d be working on a good variety of jobs, from PMIs to rebuilds, in clean, modern, purpose-built workshops that feature all the latest diagnostics and servicing kit.
The company works for some of the UK’s biggest fleet operators, as well as many smaller transport firms who’ve been customers for years.
The MD’s been around a while. He joined the company aged 15 as a mechanic before eventually buying the previous owner out. He’s a ‘diesel-head’ – and he puts quality first!
Working nights: choose 4 or 5 per week
The two of you will be running a new shift, working 40 hours a week. All of your work will be workshop-based.
There’s some flexibility around start and finish hours (to be agreed when you both start) and the MDs open to running longer shifts over 4 nights if that’s of interest.
There’s also potential for one of these roles to be upgraded to foreman, if somebody with the right skills and experience applies.
Qualifications
For these roles you’ll need to be a qualified, time-served tech who genuinely enjoys maintaining and repairing HGVs, both old and new.
Also essential will be a sound working knowledge of modern workshop equipment and diagnostics; something the company will help you maintain with regular training.
Last, but not least, you’ll need to be the kind of person who takes a real pride in their work and who doesn’t mind pulling out the stops to help a customer.
In return
Depending on your experience, there’s a salary of up to £40,000 per year. Overtime is paid at a time and a half. Plus there are 20 days’ paid leave a year, rising with service.
