About the role
We’re looking for a talented designer to join our brand and marketing team as a graphic/digital designer.
At Thames Water, our mini internal agency delivers high-quality, on-brand creative to meet objectives across the business. You’ll work within this small yet mighty hub of designers and copywriters to bring our brand to life through clever design, producing unique creative solutions to deliver on a wide range of stakeholder briefs. This could include everything from large-scale brand development projects and marketing campaigns to smaller-scale customer-facing and internal communications.
The duration of this contract will be 6 to 12 months and is currently home-based, but you’ll need to be able to access our office in central Reading, Berkshire when coronavirus restrictions lift.
Key responsibilities will include:
Proven ability to ideate, create, develop and produce high-quality, on-brand creative for use across a wide range of channels with a digital first focus.
Championing our brand identity across all internal and external communications
Collaborating with the wider Brand & Marketing team and our creative hub of designers and copywriters to conceptualise internal and external campaigns
Thinking critically about briefs to deliver fresh ideas and approaches and push the boundaries of what we do today
Supporting the roll-out of our ongoing brand development work
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external design agencies and external suppliers
Expressing your creative point of view with confidence to help develop the work of others

Demonstrate commercial focus in all decision making to ensure value for moneyIdeally, you’ll have a degree in graphic design or a similar subject. You’ll also have at least two years’ dedicated design experience as part of an in-house creative department or in an external agency. With your expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud – particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop – you’ll be confident using a range of creative processes and production techniques to bring your designs to life. Any experience of using Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro or other video editing software will be a bonus!

This role is extremely varied, which means no two days will be the same. You could be developing a detailed technical diagram one minute and conceptualising a brand-new customer-facing campaign the next. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently or in harmony with our creative team to create best-in-class designs that meet the brief and embody our brand. The ability to turn your designs around quickly is a must, as we often work down to the wire to meet tight deadlines.
