Our client is a key player in the international protein sectors and supplies over 100 countries worldwide under various key brands names. Their brands are among the most recognized and respected names in their industry sectors and each has a proven record of success in addition to a large and loyal global customer base.

The business also offers specialty products aimed to give customers flexibility in their product choice and meet specific market requirements. Their very successful and well-established genetic selection program consistently promotes continuous improvements globally as well.

Due to ongoing expansion, they are looking for a General Manager to join them at a key UK site in Stratford upon Avon and reporting to the overall Head of their UK business. The role will have full operational responsibility to plan, organise and control the day-to-day activities of the business and delivery to match customer orders to agreed quality standards within a bio-secure environment.

Key responsibilities of this role also include working with colleagues across the business in the UK and internationally to ensure that your business unit and your team deliver optimum results to meet the demands of their customers, ensuring the highest quality and service to domestic and international customers whilst operating a high volume and complex protein business.

To be applicable to the role, you will have experience of operating at a senior level within the food sectors. As such, you will be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to manage large teams and be able to plan and organise a high volume, technically complex operation to high standards of quality, bio-security and cost efficiency.

Other Key Elements of the Role:

* To plan and manage the operational responsibilities to meet customer requirements for delivery within tight operational parameters.

* Optimise performance of the facility ensuring orders are met and dispatched in the most professional manner.

* Liaise with Planning Department to ensure that all deliveries have appropriate and accurate documentation and export certification.

* Liaise with internal colleagues to ensure that highest standards of quality are maintained to meet the requirements of the customers ongoing.

* Work with commercial and QA colleagues and customers to investigate and resolve complaints and to proactively identify opportunities for improving product quality and service to customers.

* Working with your management team to recruit, train, motivate and manage employees and agency staff to ensure the efficient operation of the business on a 24/7 basis.

* Ensure that working conditions and practices meet appropriate standards of health, safety, security and environmental requirements.

* Prepare and actively manage financial budgets, seeking opportunities for cost efficiencies and / or quality improvement.

* Collect and analyse appropriate management information to proactively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation. Work actively on optimising Key Performance Indicators (KPI) ongoing.

Your Experience to Date:

Managing commercial fresh food business at a senior level on an operational or/and a technical basis.

* Good financial understanding and ability to produce and manage detailed budgets.
