Our fast-growing client based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire are looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The role will be office based 5 days per week, however, they do offer 20 days a year where you can work from home.

This job would suit an ACCA/CIMA/CPA qualified accountant with at least 5 years international accounting or finance experience to be responsible for controlling the accounting transactional functions for all the countries that fall under the international group.

This is a global business with over 40 entities, in 20 countries and with salles in over 65 countries. Who has grown rapidly through acquisitions and organic growth over the last few years, with many projects going on to integrate these countries onto the systems and processes.

The successful individual will have strong problem solving, conflict management and decision-making skills. For this role you must be able to work well in a pressurised environment and be able to communicate across all levels of the business. Strong IT skills are essential for this role, with advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros). ERP systems knowledge is also preferable, including JD Edwards Enterprise (Enterprise One). The ideal candidate will have strong statutory reporting skills with a good understanding of tax rules. Languages preferred, but not necessary: Italian, Spanish or French.

Job responsibilities:

Manage the Accounting functions for the companies managed by the shared service group, namely Accounts Payable, Treasury, Indirect Tax Reporting, Payroll, fixed Assets and Lease Accounting
Manage the month end and year end close process in the respective Accounting functions
Work with Corporate Treasury to ensure cashflow projections by legal entity are accurate and timely. Manage the bank funding
Facilitate moving from local banks to Corporate bank
Review AP & AR ledgers to ensure reflect correct balances and accuracy of reporting
Review and approve all payment groups on a weekly basis
Work with Accountants to ensure VAT is captured accurately for AP across all countries
Approve monthly payrolls and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring accounted for correctly
Ensure Accounting standards are complied with under IFRS
Manage the Group and Statutory Audits liaising with local teams, working with Auditors to ensure information provided timely and all queries are resolved.
Compile the year end Group Reporting schedules and audit reports, along with statutory reporting
Continuous improvement of all processes
Manage the Integration of newly acquired businesses / products
Participate in ad hoc tasks and projects when required
